The 3rd Edition of the Tehri Water Sports Cup 2024, successfully concluded today at THDCIL- Tehri Dam Reservoir at Tehri-Garhwal, with great enthusiasm and celebration. The Grand Closing ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami. CM congratulated all the winners and participants for their outstanding performances. Dhami appreciated the role of THDC in successfully organizing of this prestigious event for the third consecutive year. Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, addressing the gathering during the closing ceremony highlighted the contribution of Tehri Dam Complex which is not only a major source of Electricity Generation but is also emerging as a prominent hub for Water Sports and Tourism. He appreciated, the professional approach displayed by THDC in organizing, Tehri Water Sports Cup 2024, stating that organizing such Mega Events in this location would enable it to scale new Heights of Success, attracting attention across the Nation and the World." He further added, "The enthusiasm and talent displayed by the athletes here are truly inspiring. I am confident that in the coming years, these players will make our Nation proud on both National and International platforms.” R K Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, THDCIL expressed gratitude to Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, for his consistent support and guidance to THDC on all occasions and thanked him for gracing the occasion. Vishnoi also congratulated all the winners and participants and applauded Team THDCIL for successfully organizing this four-day-long event. Vishnoi added that THDCIL has always been committed to the Socio-Economic development of Uttarakhand, and initiatives like Tehri Water Sports serves as shining examples of our professionalism and dedication. The establishment of the High-Performance Academy at Koteshwar stands as a testament to the development of Tourism and Sports in the State, nurturing talent to excel at National and International levels. He also acknowledged the invaluable support of the Government of Uttarakhand, which has been instrumental in turning these initiatives into a resounding success."Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical), THDCIL, highlighted the long-term vision of THDCIL in positioning Tehri Lake as a hub for water sports. He stated, “Our aim is to make Tehri Lake synonymous with world-class water sports. This championship is not just a sporting event but a step towards creating opportunities for athletes, boosting tourism, and contributing to the local economy. THDCIL is proud to be a catalyst for transforming the Tehri region into a global sports destination.” During the four-day championship, over 500 athletes, coaches, and team managers from 22 states and services teams across the country competed in 126 races across 44 Kayaking and Canoeing events. The competition provided a robust platform for athletes to exhibit their skills and further the cause of sportsmanship and athletic excellence.
