Will Centre delay Central Vista project to offset people’s anger over Covid surge ?

Grapevine has it that to offset the people’s anger due to surge in Covid- 19 cases and alleged mismanagement, the Union government may go slow over the implementation of the Central Vista redevelopment project, which has come under intense criticism for spending a huge amount of money at a time when the country was battling a raging pandemic. Barring two ongoing projects, New Parliament Building and Central Vista Avenue (Rajpath), the Centre may, sources in the Urban Affairs Ministry said, slow down the execution of remaining projects in the Central Vista Redevelopment Scheme.

 

 

 

Two newly elected West Bengal BJP MLAs may quit

Two BJP parliamentarians who won their seats in the just-concluded Bengal Assembly polls are likely to resign from the legislative Assembly. The BJP had fielded four Lok Sabha MPs of which only two won. Now, in BJP’s scheme of things, insiders say, losing two Assembly seats will not make any difference in its status in the Assembly.  However, when the next Lok Sabha polls are held, the party would like to go ahead with all the 19 Lok Sabha seats it has in its kitty and thus the decision to make them resign.

Is it justified to allow gatherings at political rallies and religious functions amidst Covid surge ?

Even as Covid cases continue to surge across the country, how far it is justified for the ‘powers that be’ to ignore implementation of Corona norms (restrictions) at political rallies in the poll bound states and religious functions ? Does the deadly virus becomes ineffective at such gatherings ?
