As many as 10 IPS officers of 1984 batch of various cadres seize power in current Modi regime with holding top positions.  Accordingly, Arvind Kumar of Assam-Meghalaya cadre is enjoying the post of Intelligence Bureau (IB) Chief, while Samant Geol, who hails from Punjab cadre, holds an important responsibility as RAW Chief and Rajnkikant Mishra of UP cadre is Chief of BSF. Similarly, S S Deswal of Haryana cadre enjoys the post of DG, ITBP; Rajesh Ranjan of Bihar as DG, CISF; Y C Modi of Assam-Meghalaya cadre as NIA Chief; Sudeep Lakhtakia of Telangana as NSG Chief; Rakesh Asthana as Chief of BCAS; S Javeed Ahmad of UP cadre as Director, LNJN NICFS and A P Maheshwari of UP is Special Secretary, Internal Security in Home Ministry.
