Central government employees may have to wait until 2027 for a clearer picture of salary revisions under the 8th Pay Commission if past timelines are any indication.
The 7th Pay Commission took nearly 21 months to complete its exercise after being constituted in February 2014, eventually submitting its recommendations in November 2015.The 8th Pay Commission, set up on November 3, 2025, has been given an 18-month mandate to complete its work. Based on this timeline, its report is expected by May 2027, though some estimates suggest the submission could extend to July 2027.
