Against 419 HC Judge vacancies, only 188 names under consideration

Even as the country’s 25 High Courts are facing a shortfall of 419 judges, only 188 names are under consideration for appointment to these posts. Of them, as many as 112 names are awaiting the Centre’s approval with the last recommendations for appointment going back to July 2019.
