The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India(ICAI) has raised several shortcomings in filing ITR returns this year. The ICAI Chairperson Charanjot Singh Nanda has written a letter to the Chairperson, CBDT, citing various flaws and difficulties filing returns this year. He said , last year, ITR Forms were notified between January to March and functionalities to file returns were enabled in May & June. But this year ITR forms were notified in April & May and functionalities were enabled between May and August, 2025.This has created tremendous pressure in filing the return within the fixed time frame. The ICAI has requested the CBDT that immediate relief be extended to tax payers in respect of the return filing due date of 31 October, 2025 and also in respect of the specified date of September 30, 2025 under section 44AB. Due to technical glitch, the ITD was forced to extend the due date one day.
