The Central Government has doubled the payment of monetary allowance of Armed forces personnel who received the “Indian Order of Merit’ (IOM) under Pre-Independence Gallantry Awards from Rs 4,000 per month to Rs 8000 per month. The allowance is admissible to the recipient of the award and on his death to his widow lawfully married by a valid ceremony.The widow will continue to receive the allowance until her death.
