Arunchal Pradesh Tourism Department launches ‘Yuva Tourism Clubs’

Following the directions of Prime Minister, the Department of Tourism, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh in association with North East Regional Office Guwahati, Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India jointly organised the official launch of Yuva Tourism Clubs at the State Food Crafts Institute in the state capital in Itanagar on July 18, 2023. Celebrating 75 years of Independence, the Yuva Tourism Clubs is an initiative by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India as part of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations. The main objectives behind the yuva clubs is to educate the youth and students about the country’s heritage, culture and resources and create an atmosphere to promote responsible and sustainable tourism in the country.  kesang Ngurup Damo, Director (Tourism) emphasised about the abundant cultural resources available in the state and also the need for preserving these resources for the future generations. He also mentioned the benefits of taking up travel as a profession and how the students could become independent entrepreneurs in the future. Addressing the audience, he also urged everyone to adopt a planet friendly and responsible life style and create awareness for a clean and green Arunachal. Travel for life taken by all the attendees administered by Director Tourism. Secretary (Tourism) while launching the event spoke about the how Yuva Clubs could create young ambassadors of the country who could represent the India tourism industry in the national and international level. Talking about the travel prospects in the state, secretary (tourism) also mentioned about the need for continuous skill development and upgradation programme to be held for the tourism stakeholders and professionals. Secretary (tourism) also talked about the importance of domestic tourism in the state and how some of the leading states in India like Goa, have developed themselves and benefitted as a result of the increase in domestic tourists. Secretary (tourism) also emphasised on the use of technology in the travel industry and how its use can increase productivity and also create professionals resulting in creating a suitable and tourist friendly atmosphere. The Programme Ended With A Vote Of Thanks Delivered By Mrs Bengia Manna Sonam, Dy. Director (Tourism) Where She Thanked All The Esteemed Guests Present In The Event, Tourism Officials From The State Tourism Dept, Media Personnel, Tour Operators,  Homestay Operators, Technicians, Students And Yuva Tourism Club Members Connected From Various Schools Across Arunachal.   So far, the State Dept. has successfully formed more than 135 Yuva Clubs with a total of about 5000 club members approx. Around 100 students participated at the launch of Yuva Tourism from the schools in and around Capital Complex. The cultural programme was presented by the students of Donyi Polo Mission School for Hearing & Visually Impaired.
