In the Government of India, IAS officers of 1987 batch are holding important posts. TV Somanathan is Cabinet Secretary while Tuhin Kanta Pandey is Finance Secretary; Vini Mahajan Drinking is Water & Sanitation Secretary; Leena Nandan is Environment & Forest Secretary; and Ajay Seth is Secret

TV Somanathan is Cabinet Secretary while Tuhin Kanta Pandey is Finance Secretary; Vini Mahajan Drinking is Water & Sanitation Secretary; Leena Nandan is Environment & Forest Secretary; and Ajay Seth is Secretary Economic Affairs. On top of this Swagat Das, who is Secretary Security is also a 1987 batch IPS officer. Protocol-wise, all the secretaries will have to address the Cabinet Secretary as 'Sir' in official meetings though privately they could call him by his first name.
