The upcoming Union Budget is expected to give a major push to the railway sector, with increased allocations for modernization, new lines, and high-speed connectivity. The government is likely to focus on improving logistics efficiency through better freight corridors and station redevelopment projects under the “Viksit Bharat” agenda. Alongside higher capital expenditure, an internal reshuffle is anticipated within the Ministry of Finance to fast-track project clearances and reduce bureaucratic delays that have slowed implementation in key infrastructure schemes. The restructuring aims to improve coordination between financial approvals and executing agencies, enabling quicker fund disbursals and on-ground progress. With the general elections approaching, the move is also seen as part of the Centre’s effort to demonstrate visible development outcomes and economic acceleration, particularly in transport and infrastructure sectors that have strong employment and growth multipliers.
