BoI completes 121 years; Rajneesh Karnatak reaffirms focus on growth and relationship beyond banking UPDATED
Bank of India (BOI) has completed 121 years of its remarkable journey, marking more than 12 decades of trust, service and contribution to India’s economic growth.
On the occasion of the Bank’s 121st Foundation Day, Rajneesh Karnatak, Managing Director & CEO, BoI, reflected on the institution’s long journey, the trust built over generations and the responsibility of carrying the legacy forward. He emphasised that as the Bank enters its next phase, the focus remains firmly on the future—growing with India, evolving with customers and strengthening relationships that go beyond banking.
Karnatak highlighted the importance of people, technology and customer-centricity in shaping the Bank’s next chapter. The Foundation Day message underlined BOI’s commitment to remain closely aligned with the aspirations of a rapidly developing India while continuing to build on its legacy of trust and integrity.
Bank of India, established on September 7, 1906, has grown from a single office into a leading public sector bank with a substantial domestic and international presence. The Bank has also crossed significant business milestones, including global business of more than Rs 17.50 lakh crore in Q1 FY27 and annual net profit exceeding Rs 10,000 crore in FY26.
The 121st Foundation Day thus marks not merely a celebration of the Bank’s illustrious past, but also its vision for the future—strengthening customer relationships, embracing technology and contributing to India’s journey towards a Viksit Bharat.
