Cadre Allocation Policy Forms Four Categories

DoPT  has revamped rules for IAS/IPS/IFoS cadre allocation. States are now grouped into four categories (no traditional “zones”); officers can opt only for home state (yes/no) or get allotted purely by All India Rank, vacancies, and roster. Relevant groupings: Group II includes Karnataka + Kerala. Group III includes Odisha + Tamil Nadu. Group IV includes Telangana. This aims to simplify preferences and ensure better distribution amid vacancies.
