Centre’s ‘zero tolerance’ now for over-stay on Inter-cadre deputation

Central Govt has got very firm to curb the instances of over-stay by All India Service  (AIS) Officers on Inter-cadre deputation. The notification put forth by the Government now reads as under-

1. It is reiterated that in the event the officer overstays for any reason whatsoever, he/she is liable for disciplinary action and other adverse Civil / Service consequences which would include the period of over stay not being counted for service for the purpose of pension and that any increment due during the period of overstay being deferred with cumulative effect, till that date on which the officer rejoins in his parent cadre.

2. The Accountant General of the States concerned are also requested to stop payment of salary to the officer beyond approved period of inter cadre deputation.

3. Any over-stay beyond approved period of inter cadre deputation without prior approval of the Central Government shall lead to an adverse impact on the prospects of the officer at the time of the empanelment.

4. The State Governments are, therefore, hereby advised to relieve the officer promptly on the last date of completion of the inter cadre deputation tenure without fail unless the competent authority extends the period of deputation, in writing, prior to its date of expiry.
