Committee set up after 34 years

MHA has set up a Committee to implement one portion of Assam Accord after 34 years. Assam Accord was signed on August 15, 1985. Clause 6 of states that:-Constitutional, legislative and administrative safeguards, as may be appropriate, shall be provided to protect, preserve and promote the cultural, social, linguistic identity and heritage of the Assamese people. The Committee will submit its report within six months.
