Disbursement of MGNREGA fund to West Bengal withheld permanently

The Ministry of Rural Development has reportedly stopped the disbursement of MGNREGA fund to the tune of Rs. 7200 cr of first quarter for the state of West Bengal citing reasons that the state failed to comply with centre’s guidelines as contended under MGNREGA Act to get completed all the past years pending social audit and providing requisite support to the office of Ombudsman in the Districts for facilitating justices to the stake holders and transparency in the implementation of the MGNREGA scheme.
