DoT records 8.57% decrease in tele numbers in April

At the end of April'20, the total number of telephones was 1168.22 million, compared to 1176.79 million by the end of March'20, showing a decrease of 8.57 million. Maximum rise in total telephone connections was recorded in Uttar Pradesh - [East] (1188234) followed by West Bengal (4986). However, Maharashtra, Bihar and Gujarat recorded a fall in telephone connections over previous month, with a decrease of 1331901, 1248560 & 1161783 respectively.
