Dr Inder Jit Singh in six, Chaudhuri in 10 months get the axe as Coal Secretary

The Government of India has shunted out two IAS officers of 1985 batch from the post of Coal Secretary one after another in ten months. Sumanta Chaudhuri was removed from the post of Coal Secretary before the end of his tenure. Chaudhuri, who assumed the charge on November 27, 2018, was to complete his tenure on January 30, 2021. But his tenure was curtailed on September 20, 2019. Similarly, Dr Inder Jit Singh was also shunted out as Secretary, Coal within six months. Dr Singh, who had assumed the office on June 14, 2018, was removed on November 27, 2018. Chaudhuri is from West Bengal while Dr Singh belongs to Kerala cadre.
