Dr. Mrutyunjay Sarangi (IAS TN 1977), former Secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Labour and Employment, demitted office as Member, Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), on September 21. On October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, he is going to launch a new website named www.PositiveVibes. Today where he wants to host positive ideas, beliefs and chronicles of good deeds. This website is being launched with a hope that it will make a difference to the way people look at what is happening around them. On any given day when we open the newspapers in the morning or switch on the TV channels we see a lot of negative news. Most of us are appalled by the amount of venomous negativity that stares at us in the print, visual or social media. It often leaves us wondering why in a country of 1.36 billion people we find only incidents of rape, murder, fraud, embezzlement, agitations or mud-slinging as worth reporting. How about the innumerable good deeds done by government servants, NGOs, Self Help Groups, Corporates and public-spirited individuals? Why don’t they get reported with the same zeal as the sordid tales of crimes and other misdeeds? Is it because good deeds excite us less ?

The aim of www.PositiveVibes. Today is to meet such negativity with a flood of positive vibes. The site is open to all – government officials from any level and any service, NGOs, private sector and members of the public. Anyone who has done or experienced any act of public good should report it in the website so that it inspires others. Dr. Sarangi has requested the readers of Whispersinthecorridors.com to visit the website and contribute their ideas and thoughts for dissemination to a wider audience. Records of good action and kind deeds are welcome, as also articles on government policies and programmes and constructive suggestions on nation-building. Reports should be accompanied by photographs and video clips wherever available. Inspiring stories, anecdotes and reminiscences on relevant issues will undoubtedly enrich the site. Readers are invited to send them in large numbers, and also contribute articles of contemporary relevance. Retired and senior officials are requested to send their reminiscences which can inspire the readers.
