Executive Development Programme conducted by SCOPE for employees of CPSEs

Standing Conference on Public Enterprises (SCOPE), which is a Governing Body of CPSEs, has conducted 5th Executive Development Programme from May 29, 2017 to June 3, 2017 at SCOPE-APSE Training Centre at New Delhi in which young Officers/Executives from about 20 Public Sector Undertakings were participated.  As an initiative to develop young dynamic Executives, who will be the future Leadersof PSUs and who will lead the PSUs in future, SCOPE is organizing this type of development programmes.  SCOPE had invited PM Chandraiah, Managing Director & Director Finance of Bengal Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd as a Chief Guest for this programme on May 29, 2017.   PM Chandraiah has joined PSU in 1984 as a worker after passing his 12th standard in NTPC, Ramagundam and in his 33 years services he has grown from ZEROLEVEL TO TOP LEVEL i.e. Worker to Managing Director.  As a part of encouragement to the young Executives, PM Chandraiah has delivered his lecture on 29th May, 2017 wherein he has explained about the opportunities which PSUs are giving to its employees to grow, citing his growth as an example.  Chandraiah told the young executives that in 1951 India has started with 5 PSUs with Rs.29 crore investment and the number of PSUs grown to 320 with investment of around Rs.12 Lakh crore in 2016 and the Turnover of this 320 PSUs is around Rs.19 Lakh Crore,  with workforce of around 12.4 lakh employees.  He also cited that an employee who joined PSU as “Executive Trainee” or even joined as a “Worker” had grown to Chief Executive Level.  Explaining about the opportunities, he told that opportunities will not come to you and knock your doors saying that “I am an opportunity”.  You have to grab the opportunities and take all your day-to-day works with a challenge and if you do hard work, you will get opportunities to grow.  He advised the participants that they do not need any “God Father” to grow in PSU and only their hard work will take them to the “Top Level” and further advised the participants that they should “treat the Company in which they are working as their own Company” and advised them to “Work as a Worker in the organization and take decisions like CEO and Owners of the organization” so that no one can stop them in growing their professional career in PSUs. The organizing body SCOPE and the participants from around 20 PSUs are taking his words as encouraging one and assured the society that they will work at their level best for development  PSUs,  which in turn will give opportunity to grow themselves in the PSUs.
