Fallout of pager explosions: GoI’s surveillance policy this month!

After pager explosions in Lebanon, the Government of India (GoI) has reportedly decided to implement surveillance policy, as soon as possible. The policy, issued in March and April, is likely to be made effective by the end of this month. The policy bans many products, specifically Chinese CCTV products, citing potential data leakage risks. After the new policy comes into place, the government will be taking a close look at critical sourcing of certain components. However, sources in the ministry said, “It's less about explosions and more about the potential data leakage risk. The Indian government is poised to restrict Chinese-made surveillance equipment, favouring local vendors due to security concerns.”
