Fare Rationalisation Effective December 26, 2025

The Ministry of Railways has introduced a marginal fare revision to generate an additional ₹600 crore in annual revenue for operational costs, safety enhancements, and expansion. No hike for suburban services, monthly season tickets, or ordinary class journeys up to 215 km. Beyond 215 km: +1 paise/km for ordinary class; +2 paise/km for non-AC Mail/Express and all AC classes. For example, a 500 km non-AC journey will cost an extra ₹10. This is the second revision in 2025, aimed at balancing affordability with sustainability.
