Finance Minister along with the Ministry has taken the charge for shifting in Kartvya Bhavan

The chatter in Delhi’s power corridors is growing louder as the Finance Ministry, currently operating from North Block, readies itself for a landmark shift to Kartavya Bhavan-01 by Friday. Sources say files, staff, and decades of institutional memory are already being packed for relocation, with the Finance Minister expected to assume her new chair in October. This move is seen as the beginning of a wider transition, with more ministries expected to follow suit in the coming months as part of the government’s plan to consolidate operations at the newly built Kartavya Bhavan complex. The relocation marks a historic reordering of Lutyens’ governance architecture, signalling the start of North and South Block’s gradual transformation into museums rather than power centres.
