The Finance Ministry has constituted an expert committee to examine and suggest appropriate measures to address regulatory issues to scale up investments by venture capital and private equity investment firms. Syed Zubair Naqvi, Joint Director (DI), Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) will coordinate the workings of the committee. The members of the committee include Meleveetil Damodaran, former Chairman of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI),  G Mahalingam, former Whole-Time Member, SEBI; DP Nagendra Kumar, former Member (GST), Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT); Ashish Verma, former Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax; Poonam Gupta, Director General, National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER); Prabhat Ranjan Acharya, Director at Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management.
