Taranjit Singh Sandhu’s reasonably good stint as Deputy Chief of Mission in Washington DC from 2013-17 and another earlier stint from 1997 to 2000 makes him a probable candidate for being made India’s Ambassador to United States. Sandhu’s recommendation has reportedly come from Harsh Vardhan Shringla, who would be joining as India’s Foreign Secretary soon.
