The government has approved revised House Rent Allowance (HRA) rates under the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC), effective from July 1, 2017. HRA will be 24%, 16%, and 8% for X, Y, and Z cities, with a minimum payout of Rs 5,400, Rs 3,600, and Rs 1,800, benefiting over 7.5 lakh employees. While the 7th CPC recommended revising HRA when Dearness Allowance (DA) reaches 50% and 100%, the government has decided to revise it at 25% and 50% DA, ensuring earlier benefits.
