Great honour to MP cadre IPS officer

An IPS officer of the 1992 batch,  Manish Shanker Sharma, Additional DGP in MP, becomes the only serving IPS officer whose article “Social Media, Technology and Terrorism” was picked up for publishing alongside those of illustrious luminaries in what is one of India’s foremost recent works on countering violent extremism –“Global Terrorism: Challenges and Policy Options” published recently. The book is a compilation of views and articles by topmost leaders, scholars and practitioners of the world and India, including Pranab Mukherjee, Abdullah Abdullah, Rajnath Singh S Jaishankar, Datuk Jazlan Mohamed, Ajit Doval,  Amrullah Saleh Md Shariar Alam, Ibrahim Rahimpour, P C Dogra,  M S Sharma, Col Vivek Chadha, Amit Kumar, Uri Ben Yakov, Daniel Pipes,  Ajai Shani, Baker Atyani, Lt Gen K T Parnaik Sultan Shain, Lisa Curtis, Christian Wagner and Admiral Jayanath . Sharma has dealt with in detail the various ways terror organisations use the social Media and Technology and suggested remedies for addressing the relevant issues.It may be mentioned here that Sharma, already a recipient of Proclamation of "Manish S Sharma Day" by San Diego, California, Mayor and of Special Recognition from the US Congress, was recently conferred the “National Law Day Award 2016” by the former President of India in recognition of his outstanding contribution in countering terror and generating discourse in major universities. Earlier recipients of this prestigious award have been Former Chief Justices and Attorney Generals of India."
