GREEN VISION: Kolhapur Collector Vijay Rathod, IAS pushes for maximum rooftop solar coverage

Kolhapur Collector Dr. Vijay Rathod, a 2014-batch IAS officer’s vision is to increase the use of rooftop solar energy across the district and promote green energy. “My aim is to achieve maximum rooftop solar coverage across the district,” he said.

The focus is to expand rooftop solar installations across the district by making better use of existing government schemes and reaching as many households and establishments as possible. “We want to achieve saturation so that there will be more green energy.”

Kolhapur known for its famous Mahalakshmi Temple, Kolhapuri chappals and rich cultural heritage attracts tourists throughout the year. An important part of promoting green energy is that wider use of rooftop solar power could help hotels and other tourism-related establishments save on bills.
