HM Joshi, (IPS, MP-1948), presently 92 years old (born on 5 th March 1926 in Rajasthan) is the senior-most retired IPS officer in the country today, and one of the most decorated, who is still very active, physically absolutely fit and mentally extremely alert.He was appointed to the IPS by the Government of India in 1948. This was the first batch of the IPS recruited through All India Competitive Exam after independence of India. Besides his service in MP cadre, he has also served on deputation in J&K, Nagaland, Manipur, and in high altitude areas of Uttarakhand part of erstwhile UP.
