Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Ambassador in Washington DC, has been appointed as Foreign Secretary with effect from January 29, 2020 as the two year-term of present incumbent Vijay Keshav Gokhale ending on January 28, 2020. Shringla is a 1984 batch IFS officer. (We said this on April 24, 2019)
