Mejia Thermal Power Station of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) received the highest achiever award from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) on the occasion of National Conservation Day on December 14, 2017 at New Delhi. The award was given for reduction in energy consumption under the PAT(Perform Achieve & Trade) scheme of the BEE which is under the Ministry of Power, Government of India. The occasion was graced by President of India and the Minister of State (I/C) for Power and New & Renewable Energy. The savings achieved by DVC was highest amongst 144 thermal power plants in the country under PAT Cycle I. PAT scheme is a regulatory instrument to reduce specific energy consumption in energy intensive industries with an associated market based mechanism to enhance the cost effectiveness through certification of excess energy saving which can be traded.
