Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) rebranded its HJT-36 intermediate jet trainer as “Yashas” to symbolise its revival for IAF pilot training. The program, delayed since 2016, resumes trials in Q1 2026, addressing the phase-out of aging Hawk Mk132 trainers (retirement by 2028). This supports the IAF’s goal of 42 squadrons by 2030.
