Indian Cost Accounts Service (ICoAS ) is a small cadre that is unknown to public and even to many in the Government. Yet the officers of ICoAS perform important function of providing advice on Cost and related Financial Management matters to various ministries. The service is now being modernised by training all middle and senior level officers initially at National Institute of Financial Management and then at International Centre for Promotion of Enterprises in Slovenia where the officers will be exposed to the best practices in their field in the European Union. The modernisation is being directed by Mrs Aruna Sethi, the first woman to head the service as Chief Advisor (cost).
