IFS officer convicted for amassing assets

The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Hyderabad has convicted K Bhasmakara Rao, an Indian Forest Service Officer, then Dy Conservator, Ministry of Environment & Forest working in the Office of Principal CCF, Trivandrum (Kerala) for amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income and sentenced him to undergo three years rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs10 lakh. Further, the court has also ordered for forfeiting an amount of Rs30, 57, 551 to Union of India and ordered for sale of immovable properties in case accused fail to deposit the amount. Further, the court has also ordered for appropriating the fine amount of Rs 10 lakh out of surplus money realized on sale of assets.
