IIT Madras Teams Win NTPC Electron Quiz UPDATED
Noida: NTPC concluded the 2026–27 edition of its flagship Electron Quiz on Thursday, with teams from IIT Madras securing the top two positions in the national finale.
Advik Kabra and Ashish Cherian Thannickal of IIT Madras emerged as national champions, while fellow IIT Madras students Sreeram Madhavan V and Ishaan Joshi finished second. Waqar Moid and Parth Arya Bhat of IIT Kanpur secured the third position.
The winners received ₹1 lakh, while the second- and third-placed teams were awarded ₹60,000 and ₹40,000, respectively. Teams finishing fourth to sixth received ₹16,000 each, while the remaining 12 finalist teams received ₹8,000 each.
Director (HR) Anil Kumar Jadli congratulated the winners and praised all participants for their enthusiasm. He urged students to retain their spirit of curiosity and learning, while highlighting NTPC’s transformation from a conventional power utility into an integrated energy major.
The competition began on September 5 with regional rounds held in Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Raipur, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Noida. More than 1,100 teams participated this year.
Among others, S. N. Panigrahi, Executive Director (HR); Premlata, Executive Director (Strategic HRD & Talent Development); senior executives, employees, and students from various institutes were present on the occasion to encourage the finalists.
Organised since 2004, the Electron Quiz is themed “The World of Business & Management” and aims to promote learning, intellectual growth and healthy competition among students.
