Installation of UV ray protection Coir Umbrellas on Ganga Ghats soon

Umbrellas made of coir materials will soon be seen on Ganga Ghats of Varanasi. The umbrellas will be installed for the convenience of priests and devotees. It was decided to give a concrete form to this plan during a meeting of Kashi Tamil Samagam. Coir Board Research Institute has prepared waterproof coir umbrellas for protection from ultraviolet (UV) rays. Coir Board Chairman, D Kuppuramu has provided this piece of information. He said the Board has prepared these umbrellas made of cloth and coir material with the help of local artisans and handloom weavers. The logo of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and G-20 will also be displayed on these umbrellas. Ramu said coir products are becoming an alternative to the wood. These are natural, biodegradable and environment-friendly. Coir Board has also plans to train Agniveers to help them become coir entrepreneurs.
