IPS officer Varun Kapoor turns up cyber expert in MP

A 1991 batch IPS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, Varun Kumr Kapoor has emerged as an expert on cyber crimes. He has created a history while working in the field of cyber security for the past six years, probably longer than any other police officer in India. Not only this, he has also organized over 125 cyber crime/security/high tech training courses for police officers and trained over 5000 police officers of SI-SP rank of 22 different state police forces, 6 different central para military forces and the Indian Army. This training is being conducted at PRTS Indore. In addition, he himself conducts three hour long awareness workshops for the citizens all over the country. In this, he has conducted till date 257 workshops in 20 states and UT's of India and made over 60,000 citizens aware. This includes school & college students; senior citizens; housewives; professionals; doctors; engineers; lawyers; scientists; officers and journalists. He also develops free of cost security Apps for the public (like BESM@RT etc) and gives free of cost cyber security services to the members of the public. He also conducts research in the field of cyber security and his work has been published in leading national and international journals. Kapoor also writes regular weekly columns in leading Hindi and English dailies of MP, Punjab, UP, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Manipur, Nagaland etc. He is Adviser on the board of leading cyber security organizations like e-Raksha Research Center of Gujarat Technological University; Cyber Peace Foundation of Delhi; Vaishav University Indore; Oriental University Indore, Acroplois Institute Indore etc. For all this huge amount of work he has been awarded with the 8th Digital India Award at New Delhi for "Best Cyber Security Capacity Building in India". This award is instituted by the Internet & Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) which is the apex digital policy and issues body of India. It is headed by the Head of Google India and Facebook India head is also part of this set up. Other competitors included Amazon, PayTM, Hitachi, ABP News, DB Digital, Ola Cabs, OYO Rooms etc. The award was given on 18th January 2018 at The Lalit New Delhi. Prior to this he has also received the award for Best Cyber Security Capacity Building given by the Data Security Council of India (DSCI). That was in the year 2015. So he has now received the best in this field award from both the two top organizations of India in this sector - DSCI & IAMAI. This is a mamoth achievement indeed for he himself, the MP Police and even the state of Madhya Pradesh.
