IPS Transfers in Assam Ahead of Polls

Ahead of upcoming assembly elections, the Assam government (under MHA’s purview for IPS cadre allocation) transferred several IPS officers. Key changes include: Sushanta Biswa Sarma (brother of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma) moved from SSP, Barpeta, to SSP, CID (Crime Against Women & Children), Assam; Pushkin Jain transferred from SSP, CID (Crime Against Women & Children) to SSP, Barpeta; Harekrishna Nath posted as SSP, CID (White Collar Crime); and Hiranya Kumar Barman as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Intelligence), Guwahati. These moves are part of pre-election administrative adjustments.
