Iyer is now Vice President of World Bank Group

S.V. Iyer (IAS MP 1981) has been appointed as a Vice President of the World Bank Group. In that capacity he will be the Chief Operating Officer of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency or MIGA, a sister arm of the World Bank that supports overseas private investment in developing countries.  The position is based in MIGA’s HQ in Washington DC.  Iyer was till recently the Managing Director for Rio Tinto, the mining giant, in India. He returns to the World Bank after 3 years with Rio Tinto.  He has held senior positions at the World Bank previously including Sr. Adviser, Infrastructure and Director, Energy and Mining.
