Jitendra Singh Raje awarded as ‘winner’ at 9th Earth Care Award ceremony

A 2007 batch IAS officer of Sikkim cadre, Jitendra Singh Raje, presently working as Executive Director, EPCO, Department of Environment, Government of Madhya Pradesh on inter cadre deputation has been awarded as ‘winner’ under the category ‘leadership in urban climate action’ for the project ‘enhancing adaptive capacities through restoration & conservation of traditional water supply sources of Indore city’. The project was conceived, formulated and coordinated by EPCO and is being implemented jointly by EPCO and Indore Municipal Corporation. In a high profile at 9th Earth Care Award ceremony  held on November 13, at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi, Union Minister of Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Prakash Javdekar , C K Mishra , Secretary MoEFCC and Mrs Nandini Jindal did the honours and gave away the prizes to the awardees.  Executive Director EPCO Jitendra Singh Raje said that this project will not only restore & conserve 330 open and step wells located in Indore Municipal Corporation limits but will also go a long way in generating the environmental values among the public. It is worth mentioning that this is the second most coveted award which EPCO has bagged. Recently in the month of September EPCO was conferred First Prize in the country for doing carrying out a scientific Study Assessing Vulnerability of the State from Climate Change perspectives by National Water Mission of Govt of India.
