JLN Compound to be dismantled to make way for a world class Sports Facility

Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi is set to be dismantled to make way for a new 102-acre Sports City aimed at modernizing India’s sports infrastructure in preparation for the 2036 Olympic Games bid. The project, led by the Sports Ministry, aims to create world-class facilities, including advanced training centers, athlete accommodations, and multi-discipline sporting venues modeled after global benchmarks like those in Qatar and Australia. This redevelopment will replace the iconic stadium, originally built for the 1982 Asian Games and renovated for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, signaling a significant upgrade to raise India’s sporting standards.
