JNPT conducts weeklong seminar on marketing strategies & PR for Ports

JNPT (Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust) organized a week-long seminar on ‘Marketing Strategies & Public Relations for Ports’ for Port professionals from all major Ports in the country. The seminar was conducted at the JNPT-Antwerp Port Training Centre, the state –of-the-art facility at JNPT which regularly organizes such training and knowledge sharing sessions to upgrade the skill-set of Port professionals in order to enhance their work acumen and productivity. Speaking on this initiative, Sanjay Sethi, Chairman, JNPT said, “Marketing and PR is a very important aspect in the overall Port growth strategy because in today’s digitally connected ecosystem, often our reputation precedes us when we explore new markets or partnerships for business. The overall business growth reflects in our annual performance numbers, but other critical aspects of the Port like service, quality, reliability, customer relationships, community liaisons can be well presented only through a good marketing strategy. All these aspects together build the Port’s reputation which is very critical when we are aiming to grow our presence in the global market.” There were 14 delegates from across all major Ports in India who participated in  the seminar and their curriculum included, an introduction to Strategic Marketing followed by sessions on how to devise the overall Port strategy by understanding the port objectives and communication plan. They also got an overview on how to identify customer expectations, analyse market trends and build a unique brand positioning for the Port which differentiates it from the competition. In addition, there were sessions on enhancing interpersonal relationships and developing negotiation skills which are critical assets for any marketer. The seminar thus provided a holistic learning on all key aspects that help to develop a strong marketing strategy. The seminar concluded with a felicitation program for all delegates.
