Karnataka has become the second state after Madhya Pradesh where Information and Public Relations Department is being held by an officer of Indian Police Service (IPS) . In an order on Tuesday, the Government had canceled the study leave granted to Hemant M Nimbalkar, an IPS of 1998 batch and posted him as the Commissioner, Information and Public Relations Department. In Madhya Pradesh, Ashutosh Pratap Singh, an IPS of 2010 batch is  holding  the post  of the Director, Public Relations Department.
