The Karnataka Government has extended the tenure of Director General and Inspector General of Police (DGP-IGP) Dr. Alok Mohan until May 21. With just over three weeks left in Mohan’s extended term to end, the Government has started the process to search for a new DGP. The state Government has sent a list of eligible senior IPS officers to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the Ministry of Home Affairs for consideration. The list includes five Director General of Police (DGP) rank officers - Prashanth Kumar Thakur, M A Saleem, K. Ramachandra Rao, Malini Krishnamurthy, Pronab Mohanty and two Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) rank officers Alok Kumar and B. Dayananda. These officers of state cadre have completed a total of 30 years of service. The Government expects the selection process to be completed by May 21.
