Key positions in 2022 (4) Army Chief

Army Chief Gen M M Narvane is scheduled to demit office in April. Who will succeed him? At present Lt Gen Chandi Prasad Mohanty, VCOAS or Northern Army Commander Lt General YK Joshi are the top contenders for the post. Lt Gen Manoj  Pande Eastern Army Commander  and  Lt Gen J S Nain Southern Army Commander are also contenders. If Pande is appointed, he would create history as there has never been  an Army Chief  from the Engineering branch. Lt Gen Nain is from  the infantry.
