Know the officers bureaucrats spearheading the preparations to host the UNESCO delegation on December 2 in New Delhi

Delhi is gearing up to host the UNESCO delegation on December 2, 2025, with key officials and bureaucrats spearheading the preparations. The review meeting in the City SP Zone was chaired by Smt. Lily Pandeya, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, who played a pivotal role in coordinating multi-departmental efforts. Ashwani Kumar, IAS, Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), is leading the city’s operational readiness, focusing on heritage management and cleanliness drives.

Supporting them are senior officials, including Deputy Commissioners of the City SP Zone, overseeing local implementation, and technical experts like Engineers-in-Chief KP Singh, PC Meena, and Dilip Ramnani, who handle infrastructure improvements. The MCD’s dedicated Heritage Cell, with specialists such as Executive Engineer Sanjeev Kumar Singh, contributes expert insights into conservation.

At the central level,  Vivek Aggarwal, IAS, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, oversees the country's cultural diplomacy framework. The delegation at UNESCO is chaired by H.E. Mr. Vishal V. Sharma, India’s Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, ensuring seamless international coordination. This dedicated leadership across ministries and municipal bodies aims to showcase Delhi’s rich heritage and civic excellence to the world.
