Lt Gen Surinder Singh to be next Army Vice Chief ?

The name of Western Army Commander, Lt Gen Surinder Singh of the Brigade of Guards, is doing round for the next Army Vice Chief. The present Vice Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Sarath Chand is due to retire on May 31, 2018. Lt Gen Surinder Singh could supercede two other Army Commanders mainly Central Army Commander Lt Gen Balwant Singh Negi and Southern Army Commander Lt Gen  Dewan Rabindranath Soni of Armoured Corps as Vice Chief since both of them are retiring on September 30, 2018 and Government may prefer an Officer with longer service tenure as Army Vice Chief.
