Manipur: Ministry of Home Affairs worried about future of peace talks?

At one of the first meetings between the Kuki-Zo and Meitei civil society groups organised by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in Delhi was although cordial, no decision has been taken. The central Government team is said to be particularly unhappy due to lack of commitment from the Kuki side. The Government team was led by North East Advisor AK Mishra, a retired Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau. The team was left worried about the future of the peace process. The Kuki-Zo leaders stood firm on their demands, as did the MHA representatives. Short-term and long-term issues were discussed, but no decision has been arrived at. The meeting held 22 months after ethnic violence erupted in the state. The Kuki delegation comprised about nine representatives.
