This persists despite a Supreme Court order (upheld October 28, 2025) to reduce IPS roles in CAPFs, aiming to promote around 13,000 CAPF officers and address stagnation. States are reminded of the 40% central deputation reserve, with penalties like five-year debarment for refusals. As of December 23, 2025, 36 of 188 reserved DIG/IG posts in CAPFs remain vacant.
