MP is pioneer state in river linking

MP is  pioneer state in river  linking  since 2014 when it linked Narmada to Kshipra for providing water for the 2016 Simhatha. Narmada to  Gambheer river linking Project (Narmada Malwa Gambheer Link) in Indore division for Irrigating 50000 hectares taken-up in 2015 , is nearing completion and is scheduled to be dedicated to the nation in March- April.  Going a step furtehr, the State government has accorded  administrative sanction to Narmada -Kalisindh river linking for irrigating 2 lakh hactares in  Sehore, Shajapur and Dewas district and   Narmada - Parvati River  linking  for irrigating  2 lakh hactares in Sehore, Rajgarh and Shajapur Districts. Process for .appointing  the execution agency is in progress and work is likely to actually takeoff in March-April 2018. State has also sanctioned a second phase pf Narmada- Kshipra Multipurpose Link for providing Irrigation in 30000 hectares  along with Industrial and drinking water in the in Dewas, Ujjain and Shajapur Districs. With this the state has completed its ambitious target of linking four Malwa  rivers Kshipra, Gambheer Kalisindh and Parvati with Narmada. and bringing about 4.80 lakh hectares of irrigation between Indore- Bhopal corridor.  It is alos poised for further extending Narmada water to  the tribal areas of Jhabua, Petlawad, Thandla, Sardarpur and Badnawar this year after already starting execution of the Narmada-Alirajpur irrigation scheme last year to provide irrigation in 35000 hectares in this tribal district.  Brainchild of the entire scheme of things is 1985 batch IAS officer Rajnish Vaish vice Chairman of the NVDA.
