Neelkanth Mishra has been appointed as Executive Director at the World Bank in Washington DC for a three-year term, in a move that is being viewed within policy circles as a strategic push by New Delhi to strengthen its voice amid growing geopolitical friction within the institution.

Mishra, currently Chief Economist at Axis Bank and a former India strategist at Credit Suisse, brings extensive experience in macroeconomic policy, financial markets, and government advisory roles.
